He obtained all three degrees MBBS, MD (General Medicine) and DM (Cardiology) from JIPMER, institute of national importance located in Puducherry.
Dr. Babu Ezhumalai is a certified interventional cardiologist; he completed his FNB (Fellowship) in Interventional Cardiology at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi.
He performs all types of complex angioplasty, structural heart disease interventions, device implantations and endovascular interventions procedures in cath lab.

• Dr. Babu Ezhumalai has received many national and international awards/recognitions. He has been honoured with the Best Young Scientist Award at Transcatheter Therapeutics Asia Pacific conference held at Seoul in April 2017. He is the only Indian who has received this award. (2013-14).
• He was the Young National Ambassador of European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions for India (2017-19). This appointment is the first-of-its-kind in India.
  He was appointed Young National Ambassador of India for European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (2013-14).
